What You’ll Do
Create and publish a new Course in Authura using the guided four-section workflow. You'll complete the course details, link a Playbook, set registration and course dates, and publish the Course so learners can register and begin learning.
Before You Start
Before creating a Course, make sure you have:
Access to the Courses section in the Modules menu
A Playbook ready to link, or access to the shared library of published Playbooks
A signed NILE Contract, which is required before a Course can be published
Important: A Course must have a linked Playbook before it can be published.
Steps
1. Open the Courses section
From the left Modules menu, select Courses.
Select Create Course in the top-right corner.
[Placeholder: Screenshot of the Courses section with the Create Course button highlighted. Alt text: "Courses page showing the Create Course button in the top right."]
2. Complete Course Details
The first section of the workflow is Course Details.
Complete the required information in each subsection:
Info
Scope
Deliverer & TAs
General Settings
After completing these sections, continue to the next step.
3. Link a Playbook
In Link Playbooks, choose how you want to add learning content to the Course:
Start from scratch — Create a custom Playbook or reuse a published Playbook from the shared library
Browse existing playbooks — Select an existing Playbook
Choose the Playbook that will be delivered through the Course.
4. Set the Course Schedule
Open the Course Schedule section.
Under Registration Dates:
Set the registration open date.
Set the registration close date.
Under Course Duration:
Set the Course start date.
Set the Course end date.
Authura automatically assigns a semester tag, such as Fall 2025, based on the Course start date.
5. Review and Publish
Open Preview & Publish.
Review the Playbook linked to the Course.
Select the publication date.
Use the preview option to review the Course before it goes live.
Select Publish in the bottom-right corner.
What You Should See
After publishing:
The Course appears in your Courses list
The publication date is scheduled or active
Learners can register during the registration period you configured
The linked Playbook is included in the Course experience
The Course is now published and available according to the schedule you selected.
